Forest workshop

Numerous studies have shown that extracurricular learning and spending time in nature have a positive effect on children's mental and physical development. Motor skills and creativity are encouraged, being outdoors strengthens our immune system, improves our well-being and experiencing nature contributes to a sustainable lifestyle. In addition, the children's independence is promoted and their social behavior and ability to cooperate are positively influenced.

The Buchrain school takes this into account and enables students from kindergarten to 3rd secondary school to benefit from the forest workshop at least once a year with the whole class.

Depending on the school level, this is a half-day to two-day program led by the adventure teacher, which takes place at a suitable location in the forests around Buchrain. The content depends on the school level, the season and current class-specific topics and therefore varies greatly. An integral part of every nature experience is making a fire and preparing and cooking a meal together on the fire. Eating together around the fire afterwards is often the highlight of the day and strengthens the sense of togetherness.

There is also plenty of time for adventure games, storytelling, discovering nature and creating with natural materials, as well as craft activities. It is always wonderful to see how the talents and interests of individual children are revealed in nature that often remain hidden in the classroom. Although school content is also transferred to the forest, the forest workshop focuses much more on interdisciplinary skills and group dynamic processes are set in motion or positively supported.
